The following sample lessons include materials from student teaching placements at the elementary and middle school level. The lessons at the elementary level have various learning goals including learning musical note values, songs and musicians representing Black History Month, songs and dances representing the Chinese New Year and others. The lessons at the middle school level include strumming basic chords on ukulele and learning new rhythms in a band class. There also additional materials included such as handbooks, long-term plans and other musical presentations pertaining to music education.
Diversity Statement
Each student deserves the same opportunities and respect regardless of their differences. Schools everywhere have many diverse staff and students that make up the foundations in the school. The diversity in the school includes different races, religions, beliefs, cultures, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, national origin and so much more. All these differences aside, every person is essential to the development of the building and no discrimination to any person or group of persons will be tolerated. Any acts of discrimination seen by me or reported by other students will be reported.
Each student will have equal opportunity to use their voice in the classroom on every activity and assignment. The voices will also be heard when discussing the diverse elements of everyone. I acknowledge imperfections and am open to change my ways of teaching and other policies to fit the needs of diverse situations. Any change is applicable in order to maintain the best learning environment for each person.
Music is great tool for students to express their diverse identities and the music room is always a safe space, no matter who you are. All are welcome.

Music Education Philosophy Statement
As educators in any subject, it is important to justify why students should be learning your content. Music uses both sides of your brain as you multitask the math and artistic abilities needed in order to succeed, allows students to express themselves and their culture, provides real life lessons and long-lasting relationships. Music is an education essential to our schools and the students within its walls.
The Mayor Saw Me Teach
While student teaching, Kammerer Middle School had the mayor of Louisville, Mayor Greenberg, visit the schools! I happened to already be on the podium when he stopped into the band room to visit the 8th grade band class.
